REPORTS TO:              Operations Manager

FLSA STATUS:             Hourly/Non-Exempt/Part-time/Seasonal

Summary

The Scoreboard Operator, under general supervision of the Operations Manager, is responsible for the tasks to accurately record progress of the game and inform spectators on the scoreboard at 1st Summit Arena.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Watches players and officials at athletic events to record the progress of the game on the scoreboard by use of moving indicators/buttons/or posting it.
  • Must follow game protocol and rules.
  • Enforce curfew clock during youth hockey and tournaments.
  • Follows game day script when provided one.
  • Display the scoreboard, media, video playback and operate cameras as needed.
  • Assists with the development and preparation of any content, video and/or graphic, for game/event entertainment, including but not limited to, advertising slides.
  • Provide customer service, share information, and solve problems with the public.
  • Assist with arena operations when needed. Complete all other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Education and/or Experience          

  • HS diploma/GED preferred.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must be computer and console oriented.
  • Proficient skills in operating a camera, video switcher, audio board, replay device, character generator, or other live production equipment.
  • Previous scoreboard operations experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work in cold air, wet and humid environments.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours is required including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
  • Occasional travel to assist with scoreboard at North Central Recreation Center as needed.

  • Requires cold air, wet, and occasional humid conditions.
  • May require occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
