About the role

  • As a Senior Risk & Compliance Specialist, you play a pivotal role in ensuring business and technology related risks are known and managed effectively at Telstra. You also safeguard our organisation by helping to implement and enact key compliance policies and procedures to ensure Telstra complies with all internal and external regulations.
  • You leverage your specialist risk and compliance management, audit and assurance knowledge and collaboration skills to effectively partner with the business to advise, provide support and constructively challenge, enabling services to key Enterprise customers to meet our contractual, business and compliance objectives.

What You’ll Do

  • Leverage deep experience in risk and compliance management with strong interpersonal skills to contribute to high-performing teams to deliver a complex program of work aimed at improving and enhancing the effectiveness of risk and compliance management capability and maturity at Telstra.
  • Lead and provide guidance and support on technology risk management best practices and requirements and facilitate the integration of risk and compliance considerations into technology related decision making and operation.
  • Communicate and present to stakeholders on technology risk management matters, and influence and engage with them to foster a culture of risk awareness and compliance across the organisation.
  • Authentically engage and collaborate with a range of internal stakeholders to help distil complex problems into simple and manageable actions that result in optimal business outcomes that serve our Enterprise customers.
  • Utilise and provide input into the design and implementation of an overall risk management process for Telstra, to ensure the effective delivery of risk and compliance projects, lead the management and mediation of risk and issues, finalise requirements with business stakeholders.
  • Work as part of a cross-skilled team that can support a range of inter-connected risk domains, speak up and contribute to appropriate Line 2 oversight and challenge.
  • Contribute to the identification, development, documentation and testing of key controls. Where control gaps are identified from compliance breaches, Internal Audit findings or risk assessments, liaise with the business to identify action owners and follow up for completion.
  • Act as advisor to the business on impacts to risks and obligation areas and helping the business identify appropriate corrective remediation.
  • Contribute to overseeing and maintaining risk frameworks, processes, approaches and guidance documents to ensure the integrity of data contained in the risk and compliance system f and help facilitate the effective communication to management of key risks, compliance obligations and issues to help support more robust decision making.
  • Synthesise domain knowledge and apply analytical thinking to conduct risk reporting tailored for the Executive team and other key stakeholders, using a strong understanding of risk standards to provide guidance on the most significant risks to the business.
  • Recognised as an expert in risk and compliance management, serving as a trusted business partner and a key point of contact for Telstra, establishing positive working relationships with key stakeholders in the business and externally to help to drive the effective management of risks and compliance obligations.
