What you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Graduate from Accredited Radiology Program or Associate in Applied Science

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist.

  • ARRT RT, and IEMA Licensure required.  If crossed trained into CT you have 1 year to pass the ARRT CT registry.

  • Current CPR certification with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.

  • Good communication and organization skills are required.

  • Knowledge of CT procedures and cross section anatomy. 

  • Ability to perform all CT examinations.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs all Computed Tomography (CT) examination on patients as requested by referring physicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and  standards of the Hospital.

  • Checks patient charts for needed exams and tests.

  • Follows department protocol for preparation of exams that requires oral and intra-venous contrast materials.

  • Prepares patient for exams and transfer patient to CT scan table.

  • Accurately performs all CT scan examinations on all patients per radiologist protocol.

  • Documents all patient histories and lab results for radiologist interpretation.

  • Scans all documents into PACS.  Check PACS after exam is completed.

  • Assists in scheduling and related clerical duties.

  • Responsible for maintaining and approving radiation protection and safety as it relates to patients, staff and equipment.

  • Cleans and maintains room/equipment.

  • Stocks linen and supplies as needed.

  • Performs any QA or phantom testing as required.

  • Pursues continuing education in professional practice.

  • Performs emergency call as needed.

  • Adheres to all OSHA and Infection Control policies.

Other Functions

  • Assists in the transporting of acutely ill patients, as needed.

  • Assists with clerical duties (phone, scheduling, computer entry, etc.).

  • Helps insure safe and clean working environment for patients and co-workers.

PATIENT CARE/AGE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging.   Prior experience with various age groups is preferred.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS

  • Frequent contact with patients, visitors, employers, physicians, nurses and sales companies

ENVIRONMENT

  • Primary body position:  Sitting = 20%, Standing/Walking = 80%

  • Lifting requirements up to 50 lbs occasionally or frequently

  • Potential exposure to airborne diseases: 100% of the time

  • Potential risk of blood borne exposure: 100% of the time

  • Exposed to possible infections and/or contagious diseases from direct patient contact. Minimal exposure to ionizing  radiation. 

  •  Subject to possible mechanical and electrical hazards.

Computer system access is assigned based on manager access level request and on the minimum necessary as described in this job described in this job description.  Approval for level of access is given by the system administrator or manager of the department that has ownership of system/module.
