Job Description

About the Role:

The Medical Science Liaison is responsible for managing and conducting activities related to medical affairs. This field-based, external customer-facing role is responsible for analyzing, interpreting and disseminating scientific data, acquiring and translating customer insights, and compliantly connecting customers to Takeda in order to advance medical strategy and improve patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide medical insights, intelligence, and recommendations from the field to support the development and life-cycle management of Takeda compounds.
  • Offer medical and scientific expertise to commercial partners, within regulatory guidelines.
  • Compliantly connecting customers to Takeda to promote medical strategy and improve patient outcomes.

How you will contribute:

KOL/HCP related activities are expected to comprise 80% of responsibilities.

  • Develop professional relationships with KOLs/HCPs per individual territory plans developed by the Field Medical Lead.
  • Map and profile KOLs/HCPs and other external partner groups to support pre- and post-launch excellence
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge regarding Takeda disease areas and products as assigned as well as the therapeutic area competitor landscape.
  • Analyze complex scientific information and engage with KOLs/HCPs in a compliant, fair-balanced, and non-misleading manner.
  • Support aligned Takeda-sponsored research and help facilitate medical collaborative studies and investigator-initiated research processes.
  • Display experience of therapeutic area important intelligence topics/questions and collect, interpret, and internally communicate medical insights from KOLs/HCPs to inform and refine medical strategies.
  • Implement field-based medical education/other learning activities.
  • Help implement advisory boards/consultancy meetings.
  • Identify and facilitate, partnership opportunities between KOLs/HCPs and Takeda.
  • Participate in implementing the medical strategy at medical conferences (e.g., staff medical booth, work with KOLs/HCPs, cover important scientific sessions, internally communicate medical insights).
  • Compliantly address unsolicited requests for medical information from health care professionals, including physicians, patient advocacy groups, medical institutions, pharmacy.
  • Ensure Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) metrics (both quantitative and qualitative) are achieved.
  • Complete all required customer activity documentation (e.g., CRM entries, insights capture), training, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities, accurate, and compliant manner.
  • Help with clinical education, publications, communications, training, and advisory/consulting programs to support KOLs' and company programs.
  • Help identify, evaluating, and screening qualified research sites for clinical investigation.
  • Support clinical trials sites per the Enterprise Engagement Model.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and clinical and scientific education for partners (i.e., internal training).
  • Perform all company business in full compliance with all regulations (e.g., IMC, PAAB), company procedures, and industry or legal requirements.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) preferred.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, and clinical work, research, or academic endeavors.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and clinical experience, or an equivalent combination.
  • Previous experience as an MSL an asset.
  • Experience in the therapeutic area.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is mandatory for positions located in QC.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a field-based position.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple meetings or client sites, including overnight trips. Some international travel may be required.

Base Salary Range:

$127,000.00 - $173,800.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
