Essential Functions/Key Deliverables
- Be the business Leader for implementing and owning Transportation and the Dunnage packaging processes.
- Develop and implement comprehensive logistics plans and strategies to optimize the flow of goods, minimize costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to align logistics activities with production schedules and customer demands.
- Coordinate and manage transportation activities, including selecting carriers, negotiating contracts, and monitoring shipment schedules.
- Manage the import/export process and ensure compliance with all required government laws and licensing regulations.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and finished goods while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Mitigate risks and implement contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
- Logistics Manager will be responsible for budgeting process for transportation and dunnage program.
- Manage, coach, and train direct reports and encourage teamwork to ensure KPI’s are met.
- Create a continuous improvement culture to eliminate waste through setting best practices, training, and potentially automation or software solutions.
- Identify and execute cost savings opportunities.
- Develop inventory strategy for dunnage to ensure that we can support the needs of the business.
- Create, manage, and forecast Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for our logistics and dunnage programs. Use the KPIs to anticipate, problem solve, address deficiencies, and communicate adverse conditions to leadership.
- Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Ensure the department learns and documents that transportation SAP transactions are done correctly. Develop documentation and training to create a sustainable workforce.
- Ensure quality, delivery to budget and environmental objectives are met.
- Implement, maintain, and monitor all Health and Safety regulations, rules, procedures, standards and policies, hygiene, and security in the work environment.
- Establish, follow, and enforce standards and procedures and comply with legal regulations for all environmental requirements as stipulated in ISO 14001 and BRCGS procedures and guidelines on Health & Safety.
- Preparation and participation in both internal and external audits.
- Facilitate weekly and monthly department wide meetings to report out KPIs, productivity, and key initiatives.
- Participate in recruitment and selection process.
- Perform any other duty reasonable corresponding with the role.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Business Logistics or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous SAP experience a plus, and also TMS tendering and carrier management software.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to draw conclusions from data and anticipate future constraints.
- MS Office including demonstrated Excel experience to convert data, write formulas, and provide information that makes informed decisions.
- Strong critical-thinking skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to function both independently and as part of a team; must be flexible and excited to grow with the organization.
- Previous managerial experience required.
- APICS Certification a plus.
