Forward Deployed Engineer

Location: Tyson's Corner, Virginia (Hybrid Position)

Exiger is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer with deep expertise in AI/LLMs, data pipelines, and APIs to deliver mission-ready technology solutions supporting advanced, multi-domain defense programs.

The Forward Deployed Engineer will design, deploy, and maintain production-ready systems that operationalize models built by Data Scientists, ensuring scalability, security, and integration with government systems. The engineer will also mentor junior developers, enforce engineering best practices, and represent Exiger in technical discussions with federal stakeholders, aligning advanced AI solutions with mission-critical enforcement needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical support for customers, ensuring delivery of AI/LLM models, APIs, and data pipelines that align with mission needs.
• Collaborate directly with customer stakeholders to understand enforcement and operational requirements and translate them into technical implementations.
• Build, deploy, and maintain production-ready systems that support air, space, or multi-domain threat detection programs involving large-scale data, real-time analytics, and mission-critical systems.
• Partner with Data Scientists to operationalize models, ensuring scalability, security, and integration with customer systems.
• Mentor junior engineers, enforce best practices in coding and data engineering, and contribute to a culture of delivery excellence.
• Represent Exiger in customer-facing technical discussions, focusing exclusively on mission delivery.

Qualifications / Skills

• Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, Java, and React.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs (development, fine-tuning, deployment, and applied mission use cases).
• Proven ability to design and deploy data pipelines and APIs in support of operational environments.
• Background deploying AI-driven solutions within defense, aerospace, or advanced threat detection environments strongly preferred.
• Experience working directly with U.S. government stakeholders, especially in DoD and national security contexts.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical solutions into mission-ready deliverables.
• Demonstrated ability to work in customer-facing delivery environments, aligning technical work with operational needs.
