Role Definition
Lead engineering activities of fuel system components of diesel engines during design and development phase (Engine Platforms from C1.7 L to C 7.0 L). In this role you will have broad responsibility from concept development to release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. You will be working new product development as well as current product improvement. This is an exciting time to be a part of Team Caterpillar!

Responsibilities

  • In this position, you will be mainly leading engineering activities related to fuel system / components of diesel engines as part of product development programs to bring them into production.
  • Closely engage with cross functional teams, suppliers on concurrent product and process design and development activities to achieve our quality, delivery, and financial objectives.
  • Develop and execute technology, aftermarket, cost, and warranty reduction strategies for these components.
  • Effective use of various engineering tools as part of product development.
  • Manage multiple projects and closely work with SMEs / L4 engine platform teams to achieve objectives, while keeping them informed about progress and project plans. 
  • Execute maintenance activities such as factory and customer problem resolution, cost reduction and robustness improvement projects.

Degree Requirement

  • BE Mechanical engineering with minimum 10 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (or)
  • ME / MTech Mechanical engineering (specialization in IC engines / engineering design / thermal engineering) with 8 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (ideal candidate)

 Level Extensive Experience: 

  • Thorough understanding of fuel system is necessary.
  • Experience in design and development activities related to fuel system of Diesel engine –specifically Fuel Filters, Fuel Injection Pump and Fuel Lift pump.
  • Simulation led design experience using tools such as FEA, CFD, Magma etc.
  • Experience delivering designs from concept to production and proficient in Value analysis / Value engineering techniques
