Position Summary

This individual will be working closely with the front office to confirm transacted deals. In addition, this individual will work with external customers to validate the transactions. Under general direction, gathers commodity prices from various sources and prepares data for use in risk management system for energy commodity valuations. Provide specific price data and analysis requested by various commodity management groups. Prepare daily energy commodity risk evaluations.

This position can be filled at either the Associate Market Trading Risk Analyst level or Market Trading Risk Analyst level.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Produce and distribute daily risk reports including daily trading P/L, open positions and value-at-risk.

  • Gather, compile and evaluate information needed for daily forward curve mark-to-market process. Perform daily pricing process, including validating trader marks against third party sources.

  • Interface with accounting, trade floor and other commodity management groups to provide information related to transactions, valuations and credit exposures while monitoring and reviewing trading documentation to ensure transactions are in compliance with risk management policies and procedures (e.g. deal entry into BookRunner).

  • Independently research and respond to daily inquiries for data and reports.

  • Reconcile the daily margin calls and coordinate the transfers of collateral with our trading counterparties.

  • Assist in daily monitoring of trader portfolios, as assigned.

  • Maintain risk/pricing models in an auditable format for internal review, external regulatory review and to maintain compliance with accounting standards.

  • Production of month end reports for use in accounting close in accordance with accounting standards.

Minimum Requirements


Associate Market Trading Risk Analyst ($53,300-$75,167)

  • Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required (Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Math) prefer quantitative discipline

  • Experience with commodity markets or equity trading preferred.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Database management, VBA, C++ or other financial modeling skills preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Transaction Process Administration, Contract Administration or Risk Management

  • Strong interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skill

  • Demonstrated organization, prioritization and analytical skills

Market Trading Risk Analyst ($69,700-$99,100)

  • Bachelor's degree in a highly quantitative discipline such as engineering, mathematics, physics, quantitative analysis, finance, economics or a related discipline. Graduate degree preferred.

  • At least 3 years of experience in quantitative risk and/or market analysis in the commodity industry or trading and finance or equivalent experience.

  • Knowledge of trading terminology, commodity markets and the analytical methods required to evaluate those markets.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop predictive models using econometrics and other statistical techniques.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office along with programing and data management and evaluation skills including Excel VBA, SAS, Python strongly preferred.

  • Advanced ability to collect, extract and manipulate large and complex data files.

  • Ability to analyze information, consider the ways that transactions or markets can move adverse to trader strategy, and develop and communicate concerns and recommendations.

  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written skills.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $53,300.00 to $99,100.00 per year
