Organization and Position Overview

Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.

The Lilly Medicine Foundry Warehouse Operator works in a GMP setting responsible for accurate, compliant and safe handling of materials that support pharmaceutical manufacturing. This role ensures raw materials, intermediates, consumables and components are received, inspected, sampled, stored, weighed and dispensed and distributed for manufacturing. This role works within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, and upholds strict standards for safety, quality, documentation, material control, and inventory integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate receiving and storage of manufacturing components from outside vendors.  Shipping of orders to internal and external Lilly customers.
  • Unloading / loading of materials at docks, receiving of materials, storage of material in appropriate storage zones, preparation and shipping to customer orders, order processing in warehouse inventory system, cycle counting.
  • Sample raw materials to correct quantities for laboratory testing.
  • Weigh and Dispense raw materials to precise quantities for production batches following SOPs and MES/WMS workflows.
  • Conduct visual inspection of materials prior to sampling or dispensing.
  • Move dispensed and kitted materials to staging or production areas following GMP material flow requirement, on-time and in full.
  • Follow all safety requirements and procedures. Routinely inspects area for health and safety issues.  Assist with implementation of countermeasures from safety incident investigations.  Work with Leader and safety representatives to implement safety projects.
  • Follow all GMP, including Good Documentation Practices and Good Distribution Practices, and other regulatory requirements. Participate in quality initiatives and audits. Compliance to FDA, EMEA, DEA, OSHA, IDEM, and EPA regulations.
  • Meet appropriate goals for performance improvement as defined by area
    Leadership.
  • Execute inventory transactions in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure inventory levels for local warehouse are set and maintained appropriately.
  • Maintain learning plan at 100% current.
  • Follow and execute policies and procedures impacting warehouse activities.
  • Execute any additional tasks as assigned by management.
     

Basic Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Solid understanding of quality and corporate policies.
  • Solid understanding of the importance of and basic requirements of regulatory agencies such as the FDA, EMEA, OSHA and EPA.
  • Demonstrated solid judgment and initiative.
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude, flexible and willing to work overtime.
  • Proactive and self-motivated to support team initiatives and in solving business problems.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time and make decisions regarding prioritization.
  • Ability to stand, lift (up to ~50 lbs.), bend, and perform physical warehouse tasks.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE corporate and site goals.

Additional Preferences:

  • Prior warehouse/logistics, material handling, or manufacturing experience in a GMP environment.
  • Forklift or powered industrial truck experience/certification.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Previous sampling, weigh and dispensing experience in a GMP environment.
  • Previous experience with RF scanners/handheld devices, MES and WMS (SAP).

Other Information:

  • Overtime and flexibility in shift will be required.
  • This role has opportunity for direct interaction with regulatory agencies during site inspections.
  • Tasks may require handling hazardous or other dangerous materials.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$17.30 - $34.38

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
