Summary

The Cost Accountant provides critical support and directs activities of product costing, bill of material (“BOM”) management, product manufacturing analysis, inventory valuation, and import and export valuation. The position provides recommendations to management in support of the achievement of company goals.Join the Trackonomy Team! 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate reporting of inventory values, including BOMs for the company’s various existing and new products as they change.
  • Perform month end close activities related to Cost Accounting for both local reporting as well as U.S. corporate reporting of costs. 
  • Prepare financial analysis related to manufacturing costs, inventory, and expense information as needed for decision making support.
  • Review and set up new raw material, WIP, and FG items; Review Production BOMs; maintain periodic cost rolls/updates.
  • Determining fixed costs (e.g., salaries, rent, insurance) and planning variable costs (e.g., raw materials, labor).
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods, to determine effects on costs and report on such changes. 
  • Support the accuracy and integrity of the company’s inventory management system reporting by ensuring units of measures align to how the company is buying, storing, and using raw materials in the production process. 
  • Monitors costs and makes recommendations to create cost efficiencies. 
  • Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in a worldwide inventory management system.
  • Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.
  • Represent Finance/Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, etc.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and valuations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven work experience as a Cost Accountant or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting procedures and GAAP
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement, design process improvements, and work across the organization to implement changes
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and report writing abilities
  • CPA preferred
