Job Summary:

 The Specimen Receipt and Processing Associate is responsible for assisting with a variety of routine activities associated with receipt of clinical specimens.

What you’ll be doing:

• Assist with receipt of consignments and shipments.
• Open shipments and quality check patient info forms. Escalate incorrect, missing information, or damaged shipments to senior staff.
• Correctly dispose of and/or recycle kit shipping supplies.
• Ensure specimens are not left in kit packaging by conducting a secondary check of shipping materials.
• Support and respond to after-hour alarms and/or other job-critical functions.
• Assist in maintenance of equipment.
• Assist with supply inventory functions and general clean-up of workstations.
• Perform various administrative duties as required.
• Organize the work area as requested by management.
• Handle receipt of compounds and control material, depending on the functional area.
• Follow safety procedures.
• Participate in continuing education through self-study and attendance of meetings.
• Perform work in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines.

What We Are Looking For:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflow.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
• Other Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities needed for this role:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, close eye work requirement (computer, typing, reading small prints). Physical demands vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills.
