Job Description:

Position Title:  Janitorial  

Department: Sanitation

Location:   Stephenville

Title of Immediate Leader:   Sanitation Team Leader\Team Advisor

Full Time: Yes

Shift:  Red Days 7a-7p

Base Rate: $17.25

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for performing general plant janitorial duties to maintain a clean work environment. The Janitor will work to meet customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and Schreiber requirements for plant cleanliness.

Essential Functions

Perform all process CP, CCP, QP, and CQP checks required for the position. Follow reaction plans for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement deviations.  Be able to identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper production operation. Demonstrated ability to properly identity of product and record accurate data on production reports. 

  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines.  Must follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment, and meet OSHA safety requirements.

  • Must be able to identify and understand customer requirements.

  • Satisfactory attendance record. Must be willing to work weekends, off-shifts, OT as needed. Must be on-time to work.

  • Teamwork and compliance with plant policies and procedures.

  • Attend and participate in meetings.

  • Utilize Process Excellence tools to improve plant performance and complete specific projects as directed by Department Team Leaders. Engage in P.E. and SPS tools and support PE initiatives.

Performs duties as required by plant leadership to ensure efficient & effective operation of production processes.  This list is not all inclusive but may involve the following processes and/or equipment:

  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow the Master Sanitation Schedule and maintain sanitation records as needed.

  • Effectively practice time and task management. Manage multiple priorities.

  • Cleaning (sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, trash/waste removal, etc.) of all assigned plant and office areas.

  • Ability to effectively operate and maintain applicable sanitation equipment (buffer, waxer, floor scrubber, compressor/sprayer, chemical delivery, forklift, etc.)

  • Ability to safety work with chemicals and cleaning supplies.

  • Ability to effectively operate and maintain trash compactor, baler and other equipment needed in job duties.

  • Inventory, stocking and replenishment of sanitation supplies.

  • Special cleaning projects as assigned.

  • Create work orders as needed to repair or replace damaged equipment.

  • Attend and complete chemical safety training. Demonstrate ability to find and understand MSDS information.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Expectations / Standards / Training Requirements

  • Complete tasks as assigned by leader and others according to expectations.  Must possess basic math, counting, calculator and basic computer skills. Forklift driving skills may be necessary.   Indoor and/or outdoor work may be required.  Training can generally be completed in a 2-week period or less.

Physical Demands

  • Stand up to 12 hours per day

  • Walk up to 50 minutes per hour

  • Sit up to 15 minutes per hour

  • Work in cold, hot or wet environment up to 12 hours per day

  • Lift/Carry up to 50 pounds up to 4 times per hour

  • Bend/Squat/Twist up to 15 minutes per hour

  • Lift up to 50# frequently

  • Ability to lift and reach shoulder height and above repetitively frequently

  • Ability to climb steps/ladders and work at heights occasionally

  • Ability to quickly access different areas of the plant frequently
