Technical Business Development Specialist (Principal Level)

About the Role

This is a core technical business development role where you’ll collaborate closely with existing and prospective clients, PTC’s client teams, and the entire PTC ecosystem. We’re looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, solid end-to-end understanding of engineering design and manufacturing workflows, hands-on experience with digital transformation workflows, and deep expertise in the full PTC Creo solution suite.
In this role, you’ll dive deep into our clients’ and prospects’ CAD design workflows through in-depth conversations, uncover their core business pain points, and build tailored solution roadmaps centered around the Creo product portfolio. You’ll also clearly and precisely communicate the core value of Creo solutions, aligned with our clients’ real-world business scenarios and long-term strategic priorities.
Our business partnerships span from small and medium-sized businesses to large enterprise clients, giving you broad exposure across different segments. You’ll also support PTC’s regional marketing teams by providing expert content for Creo product launches and industry-specific events. As our on-site product technical expert, you’ll work with PTC’s CAD business leadership team to execute our go-to-market strategy for Creo across China.
We’re seeking a seasoned Creo subject matter expert – a recognized authority in the industry – who can build a customized technical value selling system for PTC Creo products and solutions, tailored to the unique needs of our China-based clients. This role typically requires 8-12+ years of relevant professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

Deep Client Value Alignment: Engage closely with core client teams to fully understand their current end-to-end engineering workflows and core business challenges. Pinpoint exactly where PTC solutions can deliver transformative value, build highly tailored solution roadmaps that address client pain points, and uncover new business opportunities to build and grow our annual contract value (ACV) sales pipeline.

Sales Collaboration & Deal Strategy Execution: Partner tightly and efficiently with our client sales teams to co-create end-to-end deal strategies, integrating CAD sales plans with technical solutions. Lead all technical solution communications throughout the sales cycle to drive steady progress and closure of sales opportunities. You’ll also provide end-to-end expert guidance on our solutions to client teams, continuously supporting the expansion of our ACV sales pipeline.

Market & Industry Insight Delivery: Integrate cutting-edge market and industry knowledge into our product value messaging, stay on top of the latest industry technology and business trends, and provide expert trend insights to inform client conversations. You’ll also regularly update the CAD business leadership team on the latest market and industry developments across China, weave industry trend insights into solution value messaging, and deliver high-quality market and industry trend inputs to our China go-to-market team and CAD business line.

Build Trusted Client Advisor Relationships: Establish long-term, stable professional trust with key stakeholders at all levels of our client organizations. Deliver solution recommendations with professionalism and conviction, escalate and resolve complex business scenarios appropriately, and build deeply bonded partnerships with clients based on your exceptional technical expertise – earning their ongoing trust and recognition.

Expert-Level Consultative Selling & Cross-Party Collaboration: Proficiency in consultative selling techniques to precisely align with clients’ core business priorities, collaborate effectively with internal client teams, influence stakeholders across all levels of the client organization, address client objections professionally, and drive sales opportunities through the full cycle via expert value communication.

Mid-Level Client & Sales Opportunity Strategy Development: Ability to collaborate with client sales teams on full-dimensional client and sales opportunity planning, aligning clients’ core development priorities, business challenges, and long-term plans with core deal objectives – providing valuable input and positive influence on client and opportunity strategy formulation.

Expert-Level Problem Deconstruction & Solution Building: Ability to deeply deconstruct and analyze clients’ core problem statements, business goals, and potential solution paths. Develop targeted, actionable solution recommendations based on clients’ core business pain points, with exceptional ability to deconstruct and resolve complex problems.
