Job Description:

Job Summary

A Brokerage Hub Support Processor works hand in hand with U.S Customs officers. This position serves as a liaison between UPS and government entities, resolving issues related to customs declarations, shipping restrictions, tax payments and uses import/export regulations to classify products and determines eligibility for various regulatory programs involved in international imports and exports.

The first 2 hours of the shift is office work, the remaining hours are worked in the Customs inspection cage.

Pay Grade: 08


Responsibilities:

  • Substantiates classification decisions using General Rules of Interpretation (GROI), Explanatory Notes, CROSS (Customs Rulings Online Search System) and other resources.
  • Processes Emergency Action Notifications received by USDA.
  • Assist officers during inspections and provide any requested documentation.
  • Work directly with international import operation on fulfilling package requests from Customs.
  • Communicates proactively with customers including educating customers on regulatory procedures
  • Position utilizes BOSS (Brokerage Operations Support System), Mainframe (ISPSYS, OPSYS), Internal Visibility Portal, VPS Print (AMS history)


Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection Regulations
Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
International Trade, Logistics or Freight Forwarding experience - Preferred
Previous experience with classification and/or FTA determination - Preferred
