What You’ll Be Doing
You will be coordinating trading strategies with traders, data mining to determine trading parameters, and implementing strategies to enhance trading. This requires you to have strong data analysis skills, knowledge of financial markets, strong development skills, understanding of trading, and a passion for continuous improvement.
You will be executing and leading research projects on quantitative strategies, developing market making and hedging models, implementing trading strategy ideas, and creating risk management tools on the equity trading platform. You will be required to provide technical solutions for other trading related requirements. Front-office role requires you to work closely with traders, developers, technology support, compliance, and vendors. You’ll work with other areas of Global Markets including other trading desks, research departments on a daily basis. Occasionally you will partner with other areas across CIBC such as: Technology/Operations to ensure proper technology support is provided; Legal/Compliance to ensure regulatory exams and general legal requirements are fulfilled; and, other areas where appropriate.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $125,000 - 150,000.
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How You'll Succeed
Research - Lead quantitative research initiatives to develop trading strategies and models to effectively take and hedge risk
Analysis - Perform statistical analysis on historical market data and real-time trading flows to identify profitable trading opportunities
Strategy - Develop back testing processes to quickly evaluate different trading strategies and models
Solutions - Present research findings and solutions for trading processes to business leaders
Modeling - Participate in model development, validation, maintenance and infrastructure monitoring and manage development cycles with CIBC Technology department
Who You Are
You have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics or Engineering
You can demonstrate 2-10 years of experience developing trading systems or strategies
You have knowledge of Canadian equity market microstructure and ETFs as well as working with market data from different vendors like Bloomberg and exchanges
You can demonstrate a strong understanding of concepts from probability theory, stochastic calculus and numerical analysis underpinning modern financial models
You have demonstrated interest in research advancements in the areas of financial mathematics and machine learning as well as comprehensive knowledge of financial markets and products
You are able to communicate advanced concepts to partners across different lines of business
You are technically savvy. Experience developing applications in C++ or Python and developing insights into complex problems by analyzing large data sets with SQL Server or an equivalent database type to drive decision making
You solve problems well using analytical skills and a strong attention to detail
You must be a strong self-starter and able to work well independently in a dynamic business environment.
You are naturally curious and passionate about solving problems with high quality solutions
