Overview:

As part of our ongoing journey towards architecture maturity, we are looking for a Senior Solution Architect to support Manulife Bank's value streams and product lines. Candidates are required to be technically savvy and have a passion for pragmatic and collaborative solutioning. With a strong background in hands-on Engineering and Architecture, you will support value streams and product lines in their current state evaluations, future state architectural design, minimum viable architecture, and solutions considerations. You will be responsible for collaborating with our engineers, and their constituent technologies, as well as working with architecture peers and domain focused solution architects in Manulife bank and beyond.

Pragmatism is essential to this role with strong communication capabilities and a collaborative approach with both business and technical partners. Working closely with the broader segment architecture teams and business unit engineering groups, you will contribute to proof of technology initiatives, fulfill both non-functional and functional requirements and provide support in the definition and delivery of our critical initiatives. In addition, the candidate will have a strong tie to the cross-divisional architecture groups and global architects for alignment of technology capabilities and adoption therein.

You will have the opportunity to flex your years of hands-on delivery experience in support of the ongoing evolution of our products and processes.  Encouraging and supporting the delivery teams as they drive forward is a must in this technology leadership role.

Job Specific Accountabilities:

Demonstrate and communicate a passion for digital products and services

Design solution architecture, drawing on knowledge of open source and/or commercially available platforms

Assist with analysis of how business requirements can be technically implemented

Integrate large and sophisticated systems, anticipating challenges and provides solution options that address the same.

Apply proactive problem-solving to address challenges, functional and non-functional concerns

Help institute superior technology capabilities with diligence, attention to detail and technical intuition

Apply industry standard processes and design patterns to create scalable and secure solutions that have superior technical performance

Apply sophisticated organizational and planning skills to developmental projects

Balance competing priorities while adhering to deadlines and aligning resources with value demands

Follows and advises architecture governance practices

Identifies and institutes standard methodologies leading to architectural and engineering excellence

Knowledge & Skills:

Deep understanding of business strategy and ability to contribute to software/platform/infrastructure architecture plans to support required business outcomes

Domain expertise in one of the following (Security, Data, Governance, etc.)

Knowledge or experience with Cloud based architectures, API gateways, Devops, Automation, Event based and Batch based architectures

Experience conforming to architecture governance practices and in working with the Architecture Review Board process, in the context of Agile.

Excellent track record of dealing with sophisticated customized solutions requiring creative & sophisticated investigations and evaluations of alternative architectural solutions

Experience leading and collaborating across teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions

Collaborative attitude, willingness to work with team members; able to coach, participate in code reviews, share skills and methods

Constantly learn from both success and failure

Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion

Excellent verbal and written communication; able to effectively articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes

Experiments with emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next

Minimum Experience:

7+ years in a Solution Architecture role, or working hand-in-hand with Solution Architects, with 4+ years as Senior Software Engineer (full-stack)

Preferable previous work experience in Banking Industry, Consulting Firm or Technology Company

Experience and or Certifications in Azure or equivalent cloud stack

BSc in Computer Science or equivalent

Certifications in software architecture and methods a plus: TOGAF, Certified SOA Architect, etc.

Experience working on large-scale digital transformation projects and technology strategy is desirable

Salary range is expected to be between

$92,190.00 CAD - $171,210.00 CAD
