Job Summary

The Feed Ingredient Specialist works with both the Sr Director and Feed Ingredient Buyer; maintaining contracts, purchase orders, and documentation for all feed ingredient purchasing as well as compiles and creates required reporting. In addition, this role acts as system subject matter expert and provides training and guidance, policies, procedures, software, etc. This role plays a key part in ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions and maintaining strong vendor relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Using independent discretion, manage all feed related contracts and purchase orders including pricing adjustments, deliveries, and inventories meet contract parameters
  • Create and implement strategies to manage and optimize feed ingredients inventory levels to balance cost efficiency and availability
  • Execute futures exchanges working directly with buyers, vendors, commodity brokers and futures brokers
  • Manage Departmental Data Reporting; Hedging, Usages, Inventories and Contract Balances, identifying anomalies and communicating to appropriate to personnel
  • Act as systems subject matter expert, to include training and coaching for others on policies, procedures and provide guidance with issue resolution
  • Serve as the liaison on contracts, delivery and ingredient inventories between feed mills and corporate personnel
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in feed manufacturing, ingredient procurement, or supply chain planning
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and Adobe; experience in MTech, Concept 5, Business Objects and/or Adage preferred
  • Ability to create meaningful reports or presentations
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, with all levels of the organization as well as external agencies in a timely and professional manner
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field experience considered
