WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This designer will report into the Kobe Brand Apparel Design Director and will work alongside a team who oversees lifestyle and performance apparel for Men’s, Women’s, and Kids. They will work cross-functionally with Product Management, Material Development, Footwear Design, and Technical Development teams to ensure world-class product excellence, process excellence, and design practice. This role will not have any direct reports.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As Senior Designer for Kobe Brand Apparel, they will utilize their outstanding design experience in apparel to create original and innovative designs that accurately reflect Nike’s design philosophies. Through deep consumer connection and research, this candidate will identify key trends that translate into meaningful products that resonate with our consumers. They will embody the Mamba Mentality and push to design product that makes every athlete better, every day.
This candidate will respond to business objectives with creative design solutions that are rooted in consumer insights. They will move quickly to answer new opportunities and solve problems that come up along the way, being solution oriented with a bias towards action, that will bring to life the seasonal creative direction. In addition, having experience working in a rapidly changing, high growth environment, while being able to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands and changes will be critical to the candidate’s success.
The candidate needs to have a passion for innovation, with knowledge of advanced methods of make and translating data into design. They can blend traditional craft of patternmaking and draping with cutting-edge material and machine knowledge to bring to life ground-breaking product.
The role demands big picture thinking, with regards to product relevance, positioning, and timing, helping to define the brand for the next generation of Mambas by helping to establish a handwriting and feel for the future of product.
Also, strong written and verbal communication skills that enable effective communication to a wide range of audiences are necessary for this candidate.
This candidate will constantly demonstrate process proficiency through best practices, visualization and communication of ideas.
Bachelor's Degree in Apparel/Fashion Design or related design field or equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and training.
5+ years of relevant work experience in Apparel/Fashion Design, ideally with an emphasis on sport performance.
Outstanding ability to apply and perform foundational design skills, including drawing/sketching, illustrations across analog and digital platforms.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, concept ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing and scale, visual presentation development and layout.
Comprehensive understanding of textile construction, and knowledgeable in fabric structures, with an emphasis in performance wovens and engineered knits.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
This candidate will design into Men’s, Women’s, and Kid’s product across all tiers of distribution, from foundational apparel, to premium, and pinnacle / innovation product. This product will have global distribution, across all Nike geographies.
Men’s, Women’s, Kid’s product.
Foundational, price-point focused product across knits and wovens, tops, and bottoms.
Seasonal product with deep Kobe storytelling and deep connectivity to footwear.
Pinnacle-level product, pushing new methods of make and material tied to key moments.
