BiltmoreWhat you'll do:
The position of Underwriter is primarily responsible for the pre-qualification assessment and analysis of the financial condition and risk of financing requests within the framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends. Underwriters present analysis verbally and through various credit documents such as loan presentations and administrative action memos. Underwriters assist lending officers on credit matters. The position may also participate in developing credit studies for the Loan Officers, Chief Credit Officer and other Executive Management, as well as perform special financial statement analyses.What we are looking for:
Gathers and analyzes all information necessary to present a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee for approval.
Spreads financial statements and tax returns into appropriate analysis software.
Reviews and researches proposed collateral, including review of real property appraisals, UCC-1 filings, etc.
Summarizes credit analysis in loan presentations and other credit documents.
Prepares other reports as required by Credit Administration.
Provides loan account ratings based on Bank policy and grading procedures.
Develops and maintains knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors and competition.
Understands business implications of decisions, displays orientation to profitability, demonstrates knowledge of market and competition and aligns work with strategic goals
Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable, state and federal banking regulations.
Consistently applies good decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures
Maintains strict confidentiality of all records and data received and produced
Follows policies and procedures, completes administrative tasks correctly and on time, supports the Bank’s goals and values, benefits the bank through outside activities
Continues formal and informal training to build upon credit analysis skills.
Assists loan officers and relationship managers with proper credit structure and other credit matters.
Estimates collateral values through research into collateral offered, including review of comparable real estate sales and net operating income capitalization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four (4) year college or university, and 4-6 years or more years related experience and/or training
Knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis, typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas
Knowledge and training in all lending activities and terminology
Knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer loan processing
Knowledge of loan documentation such as notes, security agreements, loan agreements, guaranties, etc.
Knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies

Strong communication skills who proactively prioritizes over the phone communication with customers and who prioritizes face-to-face communication with internal business partners
