Purpose of the role
Responsible for management and continuous improvement of transportation services, cost, and quality of freight operations as well as operational trade compliance processes to maintain import and export trade compliance Support the organization with competency within the area of expertise.
Administers the efficient and economical movement of goods (e.g., materials, products, equipment) across international borders in accordance with organizational policies and in compliance with relevant local, country, and international customs laws and processes.
The job responsibilities:
- Provide safe and cost-effective transportation across all modes within a given geographical area. Includes management and continuous improvement of the freight service, cost, and quality of delivery.
- Analyses transportation and distribution systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and economical delivery of the organization's products. Reviews proposals and makes recommendations for modifications in rates and transportation regulations.
- Evaluates freight classifications, tariff rates and operating efficiency to ensure the proper delivery of products.
- Design and execution of regional/local freight solution.
- Prepares, reviews, approves, and maintains files for import/export documents (e.g., customs declarations, a PO (purchase order), packing list, commercial invoice, SLI (shipper's letter of instruction), SED (shipper's export declaration), BOL (bill of lading, AWD (air waybill), IC (import certificate), etc) required for the lawful completion of import/export activities.
- Ensures that sales invoices are accurate in accordance with physical shipment and customer's SLI, quantities, value of goods, country of origin and other regulatory requirements.
- Serves as an import/export liaison for international customers/subsidiaries, distribution, procurement, planning, manufacturing, intercompany finance, regulatory and import/export compliance functions.
- Plans and coordinates fleet operations, including acquisition, scheduling, maintenance service, repair, and disposal of trucks.
- Maintains a high quality in trade compliance processes over time, and to get the support needed to close potential risks.
- To act as a service support and competence centre for questions associated to the specific operation and within the area of expertise.
- Document and maintain directives, policies, and processes in area of responsibility:
- To have a documented audit trail for future audits as well as to secure knowledge long-term within the operations.
EHS Responsibilities
- Comply with SRP SHEQ management system and Targets set.
- Live the Sandvik EHS Culture.
- Drive safety awareness and performance to achieve SRP EHS compliance standards and Key Performance Indicators
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- Grade 12
- Degree within the supply chain area or equivalent.
- 10 years’ experience within a manufacturing, supply chain environment and extensive knowledge of import/export incoterms and tariff codes.
- 5 years’ experience at supervisory/management level in logistics operations, supply chain, or business management.
Other Requirements & Competencies
- Requires in-depth knowledge and experience of equipment and aftermarket parts delivery.
- Transportation of Out of gauge /abnormal goods is advantageous.
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business requirements to improve availability and delivery performance.
- Works independently, receives minimal guidance.
- Supports team members and colleagues to increase performance and overall Customer Service Delivery.
- Strong negotiation to influence internal/external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Must be able to manage a diversity of functions / multi- tasking.

- Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
