Summary:

We are seeking a Development Manager to join our growing Engineering team. This role is perfect for a leader who is passionate about AI-driven innovation, enjoys empowering teams, and thrives on delivering impactful solutions. As a leader within Clio’s AI group, you will help prioritize efforts to deliver on the overarching AI strategy, execute on integrating AI solutions with Clio’s core products, and develop high performing teams, while helping transform the legal experience for our customers through cutting-edge technology.

Clio is on a mission to transform the legal experience for all. Our AI team leverages NLP, GenAI, and other advanced ML technologies to deliver solutions that enhance productivity and streamline workflows for legal professionals. As a Development Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and executing this vision.

This role is available to candidates across Canada (excluding Quebec). If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto) you will be expected to be in office minimum once per week on one of our Anchor Days.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a high-performing team: Oversee a team of engineers and MLOps specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning

  • Prioritize work for strategic initiatives: Help define and execute the team’s roadmap, aligning ML solutions with Clio’s broader AI strategy and business goals

  • Deliver impactful solutions: Ensure the successful design, development, and integration of ML models into Clio’s core product to enhance customer experiences

  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with ML engineers and MLOps engineers, product management and design, and data teams across Clio to deliver end-to-end solutions

  • Mentor and develop talent: Support the professional growth of your team through coaching, feedback, and development plans

  • Promote engineering excellence: Uphold high standards for software development, including best practices in coding, testing, and deployment

Who You Are:

  • Technical expertise: A strong background in software development and architecture, with hands-on experience in SaaS products

  • Leadership experience: Proven ability to lead and grow teams, foster a collaborative culture, and inspire others to achieve their best work

  • Strategic mindset: Ability to align technical initiatives with business objectives and prioritize effectively

  • Collaboration skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building high-trust relationships across teams

  • Problem-solving abilities: A creative and analytical approach to solving complex technical and business challenges

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience collaborating with AI/ML teams in a SaaS or product-focused environment

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and AI/ML tools

  • Understanding of legal tech and the unique challenges faced by legal professionals

The full salary range* for this role is $167,000 to $208,800 to $250,600 CAD.Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.

*We aim to hire all candidates between the minimum and the midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the maximum of the salary band for internal employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on individual experience and skillset of the candidate. Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.
