Job Summary
The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for assisting medical staff and planning, securing, and arranging the necessary equipment and supplies for anesthesia needs in the operating room.
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Performs lab test, report findings, and maintain required documentation
• Accompany patient during transport/transfer as needed
• Stocks, cleans, and ensures set-up of medications, supplies, and equipment used daily by anesthesia staff
• Prepares suction equipment, IV solutions, and pressure bangs prior to each patient’s arrival
• Performs lab test, report findings, and maintain required documentation
• Maintains anesthesiology lab and necessary supplies
• Assist medical staff and residents as requested
• All other assigned duties related to Anesthesia
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of basic pharmacology, sterile processing, basic ECG and arterial monitoring
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• Basic Life Skills Certification (BLS)
Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of basic pharmacology, sterile processing, basic ECG, arterial monitoring, blood gas electrolyte analyzer, anesthesia equipment
• Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology of the body
• Effective communicator; Must read, write, and speak English
• Should be able to work flexible schedule and be “on call” when needed
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position will interact with patients, their families, and hospital medical staff in various departments
Physical Capabilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. There are extended period of standing and frequent walking. Visual acuity (computers, typing, reading, writing) is required for assigned duties.
Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to indoor temperature changes. Work done intraoperative is performed in a high- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens.
