Operating Room Materials Manager

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Director, Management Services, the Operating Room Materials Manager will be responsible for managing, implementing, measuring, and directing all Supply Chain related activities within the Operating Room and Procedural areas.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1 – Perioperative and Procedural Inventory Management 60%

  • Day to day Supply Chain Operations within the Operating Room (OR) and Procedural to include requisitioning, inventory and delivery of all O.R. supplies.

  • Ensure goods and services are ordered in a timely manner by processing requisitions, confirming price and shipping terms, delivery date and order.

  • Communicate daily with surgical staff, scheduler, surgery management, vendors, and physicians to ensure availability of supplies for scheduled cases.

  • Is knowledgeable of contracts, and communicates with vendors assuring adherence to current contractual pricing.

  • Maintain and update materials management records to ensure proper purchase order, price, quantity, vendor, and receipt information is entered for all supplies ordered.

  • Work with accounts payable to reconcile inquiries regarding questions on invoices, purchase orders and received supplies.

  • Receives supplies; stocks and delivers to proper areas and keeps storage areas clean and orderly.

  • Work closely with Materials Management staff for shipping repairs and returns to vendors, completes proper credit or return paperwork.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.

  • Work to resolve issues re: backorders, out-of-stock items, returns, price changes, substitutions, and other related Materials Management issues.

Responsibility #2 – Management  25%

  • Manage the OR Supply Chain Technician.

  • Oversee physical inventory count at various times during the fiscal year and at year-end.

  • Serve as liaison between the Operating Room staff/management and the Materials Management staff/management.

Responsibility #3 – Inventory Analytics 15%

  • Conduct analysis of top cost items with purpose of cost reduction

  • Establish par levels for all supplies and requisitions inventory through the purchasingIS system.

  • Make recommendations for new product and capital purchase projects.

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 5 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

  • Inventory Management (OR, IR, Cath Lab, EP)

  • Analytics

Experience:

  • Graduate from Surgical Technology program and/or Clinical training.

  • 3+ years' experience in medical purchasing/materials management/surgical environment

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $64,000 - $118,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
