Pay Range:

$24.40 - $33.55

Position Summary: 

The Senior Technician serves as a highly skilled technical expert responsible for supporting complex laboratory operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring high-quality manufacturing outcomes. This role provides advanced technical expertise, acts as a subject matter expert (SME) in equipment and workflow processes, and contributes to cross‑functional project work. The Senior Technician is expected to demonstrate strong critical thinking, independence, and leadership capabilities by mentoring junior team members, supporting daily operational coordination when needed, and collaborating across departments to achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Drives continuous improvement by leveraging in‑depth knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory processes, and technical methods.
  • Serves as the designated lead for troubleshooting and resolving complex equipment functionality issues.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in workflows and manufacturing processes; proactively mentors less experienced team members.
    • May temporarily coordinate daily task assignments in the absence of a team lead.
  • Identifies and implements laboratory enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Regularly manufactures complex or high‑difficulty items with consistent accuracy and quality.
  • Ensures successful completion of weekly production schedules through effective planning, organization, and prioritization.
    • May be assigned additional production responsibilities during surge periods.
  • Maintains expert‑level knowledge of equipment and instrumentation within the assigned laboratory.
  • Performs complex quality assurance responsibilities, including onboarding support, equipment validation, SOP revisions, and creation of new RMS documentation.
  • Demonstrates extensive technical expertise and applies advanced problem‑solving skills to daily operations.
  • Collaborates on broad‑scope, high‑impact, or technically complex projects; may independently lead projects of moderate complexity.
  • Exhibits strong critical thinking and independent decision‑making, recognized by both peers and leadership.
  • Partners effectively with cross‑functional teams to achieve shared objectives and complete interdepartmental tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of relevant experience; or an associate degree preferred with 2-4 years of relevant experience

  • Preferred Bachelors Degree in related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of standard biotech laboratory practices, including pipetting, weighing, pH measurement, mixing, and spectrophotometry.

  • Knowledge of basic scientific calculations and statistics.
  • Skills in documentation, record‑keeping, and adherence to SOPs.
  • Skills in problem-solving and troubleshooting routine laboratory or production issues.
  • Strong organizational abilities and extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, processes, and equipment quickly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in a laboratory and production environment with exposure to chemicals, reagents, and standard lab equipment.
  • Standard business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), with occasional variation depending on production needs.
  • Minimal or no travel required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and handle materials weighing 5–50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive laboratory tasks for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity required for laboratory equipment and fine measurement techniques.
