.Navigator NCS Product Verification Automation Co-op

The Opportunity:

4-month work term: May – August 2026

  

How You Will Contribute:

This individual will report to a senior member of the Network Control and Planning Product Verification Team.  This Product Verification team is responsible for planning, development and execution of manual & automated tests to validate Ciena’s Navigator-NCS suite of software is fit for use in Customers Automated Operational Support Ecosystems.

You will be an integrated member of a scrum team with a particular focus on software test and automation.

  • Developing automation collections using postman/JavaScript/shell script
  • Work under the guidance of software development engineers to address automation test suite deficiencies
  • Maintain automation code in Git and manage test-suite execution on the team-city CI platform

The Must Haves:

  • Working towards completion of Post Secondary Education Degree/Diploma in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Foundational knowledge of test automation using Postman and developing an automation framework
  • Demonstrated proficiency with any of: JavaScript, JSON, Python, REST API, UNIX/Linux/RHEL/Ubuntu,
  • Logistics: Work at the Ciena Innovation Office 3 days a week

Assets:

  • Experience in scrum / iterative development methodology and the following: Postman, InfluxDB, Grafana
