The Opportunity

We are seeking a Labour Relations Specialist to partner with our Manager of Labour Relations in delivering top-notch labour relations services. If you have a passion for fostering collaborative relationships and driving positive change, we want to hear from you!

As a key player in our Human Resources team, you will oversee collective bargaining preparations and negotiations while acting as the negotiator for our unions. Your expertise will guide our HR Partners through complex labour relations matters, ensuring that AgeCare remains informed of industry trends and best practices.

What You Will Do

  • Manage all Labour Relations within existing unions.
  • Work closely with management and employees to execute labour relations strategies, programs and procedures.
  • Prepare and lead mediations, arbitration hearings, and negotiations.
  • Act as a strategic partner to management by providing knowledge on how to properly handle labour relation issues and provide advice on resolutions.
  • Administer and interpret multiple collective bargaining agreements.
  • Act as a resource for matters related to Employment and Labour Legislation, Conflict Resolution, Investigations, Grievance Management, and Union Management Relations.

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Employee Relations, or a related field is strongly recommended.
  • Certification in Dispute Resolution, Mediation, Labour Relations, or a related field is an asset.
  • Certified Human Resource Professional Certification (CHRP) would be considered an asset.
  • At least 5 years of successful experience in a union environment as a Human Resources or Labour Relations Specialist, or as a full-time union representative.
  • Experience and able to demonstrate the ability to participate in Collective Bargaining.
  • Health Care/Long Term Care experience is an asset.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, mediation, grievance handling, and establishing collaborative relationships with unions.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
