Senior Software Engineer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

As a Senior Software Engineer at Exiger, you’ll have the opportunity to build technology that directly powers our mission of solving the world’s most complex Supply Chain and Risk Management challenges. You will design and develop software projects that not only meet technical requirements but also help organizations gain clarity, resilience, and trust in their supply chains. In this role, you’ll contribute to the evolution of our flagship software platform by delivering innovative features and impactful improvements. 

You will own features from conception to deployment, create and enhance APIs and backend services, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and automate manual processes to drive efficiency and scalability. 

 

Professional Experience Required 

An undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or equivalent experience. 

6+ Years experience programming with Java or another Object Oriented Language in a distributed multi-tenant environment (C, C++, C#, Python, etc..) 

4+ Years experience designing, developing, and delivering Micro Services 

2+ Years experience leading and mentoring others. 

Strong understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms, 

Strong understanding of software development best practices 

Strong understanding of system design (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems. 

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns 

Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient, automated, and reliable deployments. 

Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for application packaging, orchestration, and scaling. 

Experience with Big Data Frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Flink), relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data storage solutions (object storage, data lakes, warehouses such as S3, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift. 

Experience working in an agile environment. 

Understanding of different messaging protocols and format standards and languages (REST, XML, JSON, HTML, GraphQL, RPC) 

  

Key Responsibilities 

Create, maintain, and improve existing APIs and backend services. 

Own features from conception to deployment and maintain technical documentation. 

Collaborate with cross-functional teammates throughout the development. 

Cycle through proactive communication, documentation, and reporting. 

Manage CI/CD pipeline. 

Modernizing existing codebases 

  

Knowledge and skills 

 

Experience with Microservices architecture and domain driven design.  

Experience implementing effective feature testing 

Experience with concurrent programming techniques 

Experience with data persistence and modern DB querying engines 

Analytical and Statistical skills (experience is a plus)  

Ability to come up to speed on our core technologies quickly 

Ability to balance the quality of code and speed of delivery 

Experience with cross-functional feature team development 

Ability to work well in a collaborative environment and listen and learn from stakeholders 

Solution-oriented communicator with strong problem-solving skills 

Collaborate with team on architecture decisions
