Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The location for this opportunity is Melbourne, Florida and will be primarily based within our office spaces to support the program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule, meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position MAY have Hybrid work available, nothing guaranteed.
The Aeronautics Systems sector Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) is looking to grow Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) in support of designing and implementing technologies critical to the USAF Open Architecture initiatives. Our work influences the investment decisions of our senior leadership and customer program offices as well as impacting on the Air Force enterprise of acquisition programs.
The candidate will work with the Chief Software Engineer and Architect to design Next-Generation Tactical Operator Interfaces. The candidate should have experience in developing software in an Agile-focused team and is knowledgeable of the software development lifecycle and should be able to work independently. The candidate must also have an active Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain SAP clearances.
We are looking for innovative thinkers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable with multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, giving verbal presentations, and self-educating without direct supervision. This is a new program where being comfortable working in an environment where things are not fully defined is a must. You will often need to make/document assumptions and develop approaches based on those assumptions.
Essential Functions:
Participate in software development in support of Research and Advanced Design programs
Design, develop, and document software for Tactical Operator Interfaces
Collaborate with the Architects and Systems Engineer to build and test an evolving product
Generate and present material to support internal and external customer briefings
Basic Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 2 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 0 Years experience
Experience developing software with C/C++/C#/Python/Java with five or more years of experience
Experience with developing GUI utilizing modern graphical engines or frameworks (Qt, Google Flutter, etc)
Proficiency working in Linux and commands
Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Top Secret clearance
Active SAP
Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science
Experience working within an Agile environment
Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, CMake,
Experience with vcpkg
DevOps experience with GitLab runners
Experience with containers, Kubernetes, and Helm
Experience with OMS and Mission System services
Preference to work in software integration and rapid prototyping
Able to work independently and identify solutions to complex problems
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Familiarity with MBSE and Cameo
