Mechanical Project Engineer Job Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Oversee mechanical engineering projects in industrial construction from start to finish. This involves developing project plans, coordinating with other engineers and contractors, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Mechanical System Design: Review already developed mechanical systems for industrial construction projects. This may include HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, and other mechanical components. Ensure that the designs meet industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
  • Equipment and Material Procurement: Coordinate the procurement of equipment and materials required for mechanical systems. This includes conducting research, assessment of quotes, and ensuring timely delivery of components to the construction site.
  • Installation and Testing: Oversee the installation and testing of mechanical systems. Coordinate with construction teams to ensure that systems are installed correctly and aligned with project specifications. Conduct testing and inspections to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all mechanical work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Stay updated with industry guidelines and ensure that all mechanical systems are designed and installed with safety considerations in mind.
  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare cost estimates for mechanical projects, including equipment, labor, and material costs. Monitor project budgets and ensure effective cost management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including mechanical drawings, specifications, test reports, and project progress reports. Maintain accurate records of project activities and ensure proper documentation for future reference.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure effective communication and coordination. Provide technical expertise, address any issues or concerns, and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve mechanical issues or challenges that arise during the construction process. Apply problem-solving skills and technical knowledge to find innovative solutions and ensure project continuity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and industrial construction practices. Seek opportunities to improve processes, optimize efficiency, and enhance project performance.

Mechanical Project Engineer Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required. A relevant license and certification may be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 7-8 years of experience in the Mechanical engineering (Plumbing/Fire/ Comp. Air/HVAC etc.) field is required. Candidates having experience on setting up of Industrial Plant Facility will be preferred.
  • Project management experience with a proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Additionally, strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with other engineers and technicians.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and regulations as far Fire/Plumbing/Comp. Air/HVAC etc. is concern.
