Position Summary
This position drives the effective maintenance and execution of the enterprise data strategy and governance processes. Develop and drive practices for data management, assessment and mitigation of data quality issues. Manage and analyze strategies designed to enhance data reliability, minimize redundancies, and support the end to end data lifecycle. Drive and facilitate the creation of key performance indicators utilized by business units and enterprise.
Essential Responsibilities
Data Management: Coordinates regular reviews of Data Management processes and standards for multiple data domains. Identifies and evaluates options and opportunities for process and workflow improvements, as well as opportunities to capture new data requirements in alignment with new and existing application architecture. Recommends changes for appropriate governance/oversight of data.
Data Governance: Supports effectively operationalizing and sustaining data governance across the enterprise and multiple domains through collaboration with data owners, stewards, and analysts. Creates and maintains data governance processes, standards, and artifacts. Supports introduction of new data domains over time.
Data Quality: Drives alignment between data quality activities and business and Data Management strategies. Analyzes data definitions, business processes and systems to identify and document inconsistencies in data and application utilization. Conducts root cause analysis to support issue resolution. Utilizes established data governance and data management techniques.
Data Strategy: Support the enterprise vision and strategy for data usage, working with stakeholders to leverage data, technology, and process to support the strategic end to end data lifecycle. Establish strategy and governance related policy to drive consistently and alignment across the organization. Actively directs and champions the continuous improvement of data strategy and governance processes and workflows across the enterprise.
Training and Effective Communication: Communicate data strategy and management education and provides consultation on streamlining and efficiently improving processes. Trains data stewards, data analysts, super users and other business area users on all changes to master data management processes, tools, and/or workflows. Drives effective change communication throughout the business area and supports change adoption.
Technology: Interfaces with IT Data partners Custodians to ensure requisite technological capabilities are designed and maintained to support Data Governance/Data Management standards and processes. Provides data technology consulting on Data Governance initiatives. Works with Data Stewards to capture and technology requirements.
Demand Management & Prioritization: Coordinates demand management and prioritization process for continuous improvement opportunities associated with data management and data quality across multiple data domains. Aligns data stewards, analysts, integration consulting teams, and super users on prioritization outcomes, and collaborates with IT to perform updates. Maintains and administers process improvement and governance tracking tools and associated reporting.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, IT or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five or more years expertise in data governance, data management and data quality.
Super user experience aligned to data management/data quality technologies.
Strong data governance acumen.
Capability to prioritize competing recommendations to further enterprise objectives and influence alignment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Process expertise across multiple data domains.
Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and issue remediation.
Strong business process management experience.
Gas and/or Electric Utility Industry experience preferred.
