Position Summary

The Associate Director will partner with the Faculty Director of the St. Louis Confluence Collaborative for Community-Engaged Research, Teaching, & Practice, by providing leadership, oversight, implementation, guidance, and management for all strategic, administrative, operational, and implementational functions to support the initiatives and mission of the Collaborative. The collaborative, identified as a key component of the university’s strategic plan “Here and Next,” will serve as an organizing platform and convening unit for community-engaged research, teaching and practice across WashU, focused on St. Louis needs and partnerships. The Associate Director is responsible for managing and aligning multiple projects of the Collaborative with the mission, managing and meeting timelines, meeting the goal driven results, and presenting leadership with data proven deliverables.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the Collaborative Director in managing the ongoing and annual planning for the strategic planning process including operational planning, annual summaries, budgeting, and performance management. Aligning the project work with the strategic priorities of the Confluence and designing future work to align with needs as they change.

  • Responsible for the management and administration of the Collaborative Center, including personnel, budget planning and management, and project management. The Associate Director will provide the Collaborative Director with operational design suggestions as the Center evolves and have the ability to work with a variety of people at all levels, internally and externally.

  • Engages as a thought partner and strategist for the Collaborative Director, offering counsel on key decisions to ensure success. 

  • Works with relevant administration, faculty and staff across both campuses as a representative and liaison of the Collaborative. Participates in various university committees, such as task-forces. 

  • Provides project management oversight, drives operational efficiency, sets objectives, goals, timelines, and maintains comprehensive project documentation. Responsible for communications related to the success of each project/program including any changes to process, scope or schedule.

  • Independently coordinates and drafts significant content including documents, grants, communications, reports and presentations.

  • Budgetary and financial responsibilities, including annual budget processing via Workday planning, yearend forecasting, and processing expenses for the Center. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$75,200.00 - $128,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
