We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a passion for developer experience. You will work with a world-class team of engineers on deploying and operating existing developer tooling, and building new tools to support our global, growing development team. You will have a unique opportunity to design and develop the systems and applications that drive the Asana development experience, and work on cross-functional projects to help define the future of software engineering at Asana.

This role is based in our Reykjavík office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.

What you’ll achieve

  • Modernize our build system, tighten iteration loops, and polish frequent cycles in the developer experience
  • Keep Asana up to date on open source trends and identify new opportunities for improved development infrastructure
  • Evangelize good code and solid engineering practices

About you

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience, ideally backend-focused
  • Experience using Python
  • Familiarity with build tooling and automated testing; interest in distributed systems
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with other teams
  • Sound judgment in eliminating risks and building reliable, scalable, and performant systems
  • Passionate about creating a superlative user experience (for our engineers!); attentive to details
  • Appreciate productivity and care deeply about helping teams collaborate more effectively and efficiently, including your own
  • Excited to be a part of an inclusive culture where everyone brings their whole selves to work

At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you're interested in this role and don't meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.

What we’ll offer
