Job Summary

The Wound and Ostomy Certified Nurse provides prevention, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and education as a qualified nurse for inpatient and outpatient wound and ostomy patients. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with all patient care disciplines. Participates in and coordinates the delivery of family centered care and develops appropriate quality care metrics to measure and support patient safety efforts, patient/family experience, and staff performance while ensuring proper education and training to the patient care services team. Acts as a resource for all departments. Functions as a professional nurse consultant/resource/educator for inpatient and outpatient referrals who present with complex and/or chronic wounds.

Pay Range

Minimum $57.20 Midpoint $75.80 Maximum $94.40

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

* Required: Minimum one (1) year of experience coordinating this specific function in the healthcare industry. Four (4) years of experience in a clinical specialty.

* Preferred: Four (4) years of experience coordinating this specific function in the healthcare industry.

Education

* Required: Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing; Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) required.

* Preferred: Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) or Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field from an accredited school.

Specialized Skills

* Required: Demonstrated knowledge of pediatric nursing, aseptic technique and infection control standards. Demonstrated strength in building and establishing positive relationships with multiple stakeholders across many disciplines including nursing, medicine, rehab therapies, case management, etc. to coordinate complex care management for a group of patients. Ability to set program goals and monitor outcomes. Possesses strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills. Demonstrates ability to work effectively with frontline staff through proven educational methods. Experience presenting findings/recommendations to Manager/Director level audiences.

* Preferred: Previous knowledge of CALNOC and prevalence data on hospital acquired pressure injuries.

Licensure

* Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Registered Nurse – CA (RN); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); National Certification in Wound, Ostomy, Continence (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON).

* Preferred: None.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Medium - High energy level Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient) .
