As the Lead Industrial Mechanic you will be overseeing the Industrial Mechanics on Maintenance Team. As the Team Leader, you’ll provide both technical guidance and hands-on support while managing all aspects of team development and performance.In this role, you’ll collaborate with 2nd and 3rd Shift Maintenance Leadership to ensure the maintenance, readiness, and optimal performance of all facility assets, including buildings and site infrastructure. What you will be doing:

  • Manages first shift Maintenance Team staffing on a daily/weekly basis to deliver the required maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities infrastructure.
  • Owns the coaching, development and daily management of direct reports.
  • Executes and leads others with training and guidance to do the following
  • Execute facilities start-up routines
  • Monitor status readouts of primary systems and correct as needed.  Examples include water PH adjustment systems, filter press cleaning, amperage draw of  motors and ovens.
  • Contributes to production efficiency by responding to maintenance calls as assigned, and either repairs or defers action to direct reports.
  • Capable of executing advanced troubleshooting and repairs of electro-mechanical systems like AC/DC motors and drives, sensors, valves, hoists, PLC’s and general industrial equipment used in a manufacturing environment. 
  • General facilities maintenance tasks pertaining to plumbing, welding, lighting, painting, light carpentry, etc.
  • Completing special project action items by assigned dates and priorities.  Examples are installation of new equipment, infrastructure upgrades, equipment modifications and improvements.
  • Interactions with CMMS system to document work executed, time, spare parts usage, place orders for parts.
  • Executing scheduled Preventative Maintenance and Unscheduled Maintenance in compliance with safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Accommodating shifting schedules and overtime as needed to meet the needs of the business.  Examples of this are providing support to production overtime and plant shut downs. 
  • Support plant initiatives conducive to a safe, secure and clean workplace.
  • Create and maintain PLC & electrical schematics/documentation for new or existing systems.
  • Develop and train Maintenance Mechanics on basic troubleshooting and issue resolution.


Skills you will need:

  • High school diploma/GED/Technical school experience and equivalent work experience.  Associates degree or trade license preferred.
  • 10+ years experience as an industrial mechanic (or equivalent) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in selecting proper machine tools and accessories to fabricate parts and/or to accomplish specified work to the indicated accuracy.
  • Proficient with tools and machine shop practice.
  • Proficient with CMMS or similar systems
  • Flexible schedule with call in responsibilities
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, database and internet-based programs)
  • Proficient interpersonal skills including email, meeting and presentation skills
  • Able to read, access and interpret PLC ladder logic
  • High degree of accuracy required and detail oriented
