JOB OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Engineer is a supporting role to ensure that the production and warehousing operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance policies, procedures, and schedules, in coordination with Maintenance staff and contractors. The Maintenance Engineer will ensure that all facilities are equipped to efficiently meet the needs of production by evaluation, coordination, and oversight of the Preventive Maintenance Program.  This resource also plays a key role in ensuring a sustainable maintenance program by leading functional development needs to ensure the network maintenance resources are learning and growing in their roles and developing for future roles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and implement a proactive maintenance strategy that ensures efficient operations.
  • Identify and implement ways to improve maintenance productivity and consistency.
  • Develop company standard operating procedures for maintenance work where applicable.
  • Ensure that all maintenance processes are consistent with industry standards and OSHA standards.
  • Utilize systems in place to capture valuable data to identify opportunities to drive CI (Continuous Improvement) within the maintenance team.
  • Create and maintain a culture of excellence, while improving reliability, predictability through preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Assess opportunities to share resources for planned projects, site shutdowns, or help needed due to unexpected circumstances.
  • Utilize and implement standard ways of working utilizing systems and technology such as Fiix and Ignition.
  • Identify and implement cross training, individual training, and specialty training across all sites.
  • Support site leadership with network maintenance succession planning.
  • Interface and connect resources between Maintenance, C&T, Operations IT, quality, engineering, and contractors as needed.
  • Responsible for reviewing site and network maintenance related contracts and negotiations.
  • Perform inspections and oversight of maintenance work to ensure quality of work is meeting expectations.
  • Provides long term solutions and day-to-day support to all operating teams having issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
  • Provide internal and external guidance, training, and coaching to maintenance teams.
  • Key input for talent and succession discussions.
  • Implement and manage annual energy saving initiatives such as air leak checks, steam trap checks, vacuum leak checks, etc.
  • Identify training needs to continually develop the team's talent to reduce the need for outside services and increase plant reliability. 
  • Identify cost saving opportunities in parts, repairs, and materials.
  • Oversight of Annual Equipment Audit.
  • Contribute to and participate in the social responsibility program by providing data and information related to energy savings and utility savings.
  • Develop key performance indicators for site maintenance to be captured, analyzed, and reported out to leadership.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.

JOB EXPERIENCE:

  • Ten years of maintenance experience with a minimum of 5 years in leadership experience.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and supervise.
  • Strong mechanical and planning aptitude
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing, FDA/USDA, OSHA, and EPA regulations
  • Continuous improvement mind-set with the ability to support multiple projects.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent skills in the areas of teamwork, motivation, relationship building, and coaching.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS
  • Basic Computer skills

EDUCATION:

  • Associate's/bachelor’s degree, program certificate, or equivalent work experience
