Description

Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA, provides the newest medical technology in a healing environment. It is the most comprehensive facility of its kind on the Virginia Peninsula. This short-term acute care hospital with 300 beds is a voluntary nonprofit and a member of Riverside Health System. The hospital features a neonatal intensive care unit with 21 beds and neonatologists located on-site.

Responsibilities:

·         Pre-anesthesia assessment

·         Obtains and/or verifies patient consent

·         Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient

·         Induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia

·         Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition

·         Performance of clinical intervention as needed

 

Requirements

·         Holds a current license as a registered professional nurse and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing

·         Graduation from a program of nurse anesthesia education accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) or its predecessor

·         Complies with one of the following requirements regarding certification, or initial certification or recertification:

o    Meets requirements above and is awaiting on initial certification; or

o    Is currently certified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or it predecessor; or 

o    Is currently recertified by the AANA Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
