Job Description:

This role sits in the Climate Risk and Research team, within Sun Life’s Climate and Sustainability function. Our team are focused on several key areas:

  • incorporating climate risk into Sun Life’s risk management framework

  • developing climate scenario analysis approaches using climate modelling tools

  • developing approaches to understanding nature risk

  • and understanding the impact of climate change on health

Our team’s new remit is to be the conduit between Sun Life and the climate change, health and nature research community through forging new external partnerships and collaboration opportunities.

This role is essential in supporting this climate and health work as we develop our strategy and continually refine our climate resilience journey.

What will you do?

The climate and health strategy workstream is an exciting, new piece of work for our team and for Sun Life so this role will have daily insight and input into how the strategy develops. Day to day tasks include:

  • Develop analytical reports relating to climate and nature research and data and provide guidance to the team on the applicability for our workstreams

  • Actively engage in the development of the new climate and health strategy by developing and managing content and case studies for a range of internal stakeholders, using data insights

  • Identify interconnections between the climate and health and nature strategies in relation to data and communicate these as the workstreams develop

  • Create and facilitate processes to ensure the smooth running of climate and health and nature working groups and ensure any short-medium term risks to the deliverables are analyzed and communicated effectively in a timely manner

What does the candidate bring to the team? What are the requirements for this role?

Behavioural skills

  • Strong verbal and written engagement skills

  • Ability to track trends / patterns in analyzed data and articulate assumptions, analysis and interpretation of data and reports

  • Excellent data analysis, reporting and visualization skills using Power BI, Tableau and Wrike

  • Knowledge of sustainability topics such as climate change risk

Technical skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools

  • University degree or equivalent experience, preference for advanced degree with focus in sustainability and/or environmental management

  • 3-5 years of experience in an analytical role

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
