About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the evolution of engineering capabilities supporting Corporate Risk products, including Testing and Monitoring solutions. In this role, you will drive the design, development, and resilience of critical platforms that safeguard the enterprise. You will provide decisive leadership and work across organizational boundaries to continually elevate security, streamline processes, and enhance service quality for our technology and business partners.
In this role, you will:
Required Qualifications:
6+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
3+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
18+ years of experience in software development and 3+ years in engineering leadership or people management.
Strong hands‑on background with Java/J2EE, Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, MVC, ORM/JPA/Hibernate), messaging systems (Kafka/JMS), and workflow tools.
Proven experience building cloud‑native applications using Java or similar technologies.
Practical expertise in AI and Generative AI, with demonstrated use of AI/GenAI tools to enhance productivity or optimize engineering workflows.
Experience leading and collaborating with global delivery teams in a matrixed environment.
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical discipline (e.g., CS, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Economics).
Strong business partnering, communication, innovation mindset, and ability to challenge status quo while staying current with emerging technologies.

Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders and product leaders to align with evolving business direction, influence technology priorities, and represent engineering in planning and decision‑making.
Develop and manage engineering talent and leaders, ensuring delivery of high‑quality, modern, secure, and scalable solutions that adhere to architectural standards and non‑functional requirements.
Guide technical strategy and modernization efforts by collaborating with architects and senior engineers to drive cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy, and alignment to next‑generation architecture.
Oversee engineering execution and operational excellence, including code quality, peer reviews, SDLC governance, risk management, security standards, roadblock escalation, and continuous process improvement.
Drive agile and DevOps practices, acting as an escalation partner for teams, removing impediments, fostering experimentation, and enabling predictable delivery across moderate‑ to high‑risk initiatives.
Manage resources, vendors, and budgets, while building a strong talent pipeline and cultivating a culture that supports innovation and long‑term organizational capability.
