The team is responsible for shielding the company’s systems from security risks, while designing technology strategies that enable AIG’s businesses to achieve their goals. AIG’s Information Technology functions include enterprise architecture, software and systems engineering, cybersecurity, and technology risk and compliance.

About the role

The Duck Creek Policy Technical Lead will manage the Standard Commercial Underwriting Platform (SCUP) Duck Creek Policy and Insights implementation, leveraging systems, data, and processes, while aligning with the business strategy.  The role will deliver business value through driving transformation in workflow, pricing and product development on the SCUP Digital Workflow and Policy Administration System for Commercial Insurance.

Responsibilities

Duck Creek Policy Technical Lead will be responsible for leading a development team:

  • To collaborate with architecture and design teams on architecture solutions and high level design acceptance.

  • To estimate and plan development effort and duration along with Scrum Master & team members.

  • To create Low-level design (LLD) deliverables used by developers.

  • To identify and manage dependencies

  • To drive development speed / pace to meet delivery milestones

  • To create a culture of quality.

  • To lead and manage a Duck Creek-focused technical team, including LLD, work planning, staffing and resource management.

  • To follow and improve development best practices

  • To support in sprint and end to end testing phases

  • Maintenance and Application Support – Lead the team to determine root cause & provide production defect fixes

The lead's technical and functional scope includes the full technology stack for the Policy Admin related Services (including Quote, Book, Bind, Issue, Endorsements, Rating) and understanding of the following technology areas:

  • Duck Creek (architecture, estimation & delivery)

  • User interface

  • Integration

  • Java / Spring business service development.

  • Related transactional data stores.

  • Duck Creek platform upgrades

  • Duck Creek migration to On Demand

What we’re looking for:

A strong delivery-focused individual capable of executing complex transformation delivery projects, including execution, development, architecture, functional understanding, quality, communication and cross-functional relationships with various business and technology stakeholders.

  • A technology leader that will own, plan, develop and oversee rollout of IT services and existing IT systems maintenance, with a primary focus on Duck Creek domain areas.

  • An individual that can manage IT-business relationships, including product owners, executives and operations team members.

  • Lead the design, estimation, development and implementation of projects

  • Manage the project scope along with team leads and delivery executives.

  • Track & resolve project risks/issues

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of experience supporting E2E design, development, delivery in the financial services sector.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science; Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Hands on Duck Creek development & architecture experience

  • Experience with Java full stack application development & architecture

  • 5+ years of Duck Creek implementation expertise with Policy, Insights, Party

  • Experience with Duck Creek headless implementations and migration of Duck Creek OnPrem to On Demand (cloud).

  • Working knowledge of cloud computing paradigms, prominent industry design patterns, and agile development methodologies.

  • Advanced understanding of underwriting and policy administration systems.

  • Capable of independently leading complex project activities.

The base salary range for this position in New York, NY is $118,000 -$178,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
