Humana, a market leader in integrated healthcare, is currently seeking an accomplished healthcare executive for the role of Market President for the Midwest Region. The Regional Market President manages the development, operations, and business results for the Midwest region which includes the states of Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. This position requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across segments and enterprise-wide.

The Regional Market President reports to the East Division Senior Vice President and leads a team of approximately 125 associates focused in the areas of Provider Contracting, Provider Engagement and Quality, Clinical, and Financial Operations.

               

The Regional Market President establishes goals, objectives and plans for the Region; drives financial and operational performance; and coordinates activities of senior managers and their respective functions. The Regional President represents the health plan externally and to governmental/external agencies, and advocates for the priorities of the region internally. The Regional President develops strategic plans for their region, makes decisions related to the implementation of those plans, and collaborates with internal partners to bring initiatives to fruition. This includes the following key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with corporate partners to develop the product strategy for annual Medicare Advantage plan filings.
  • Lead the expansion and support for value-based care and innovation with internal and external providers
  • Build collaborative partnerships with aligned internal business partners
  • P&L management, including the identification of key strategic business investments and capability development
  • Leadership development, including mentoring for associates outside the Midwest team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Extensive leadership experience in the healthcare industry
  • Proven track record of driving operational performance improvement
  • Proven experience developing multi-product strategy at the market level or higher.
  • Knowledge of health plan finance and the compensation arrangements between health plans and providers
  • Knowledge of risk arrangements and ability to influence these arrangements.
  • Solid track record of hiring and developing talent and preparing associates for roles of broader and greater responsibility
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experience

  • Preference will be given to candidates residing within the region (KY, IN, WV, OH and MI), if not in the region the distance must be “easily commutable”.  Few hours plan or car ride.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or J.D. degree
  • Record of success leading provider contracting and provider engagement activities for all lines of business
  • Medicare Advantage experience

Additional Information

This position will require approximately 30% travel within the Midwest region.
