Job Mission:

  • Aligned with CHANEL’s long-term ambition to grow qualitatively and strengthen enduring brand value, the Assistant Merchandising Manager – RTW supports the strategic and operational management of the Ready-to-Wear category in China
  • This role contributes local market intelligence, commercial insight, and operational rigor to ensure a balanced, distinctive, and performance-driven RTW assortment, in close collaboration with the Merchandising Manager and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

BUYING

  • Support pre-buy preparation through robust quantitative and qualitative analysis (OTB, sales performance, sell-through, inventory health).
  • Contribute to buy sessions (6 times/year), partnering closely with VM, Styling, Retail, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide structured post-buy feedback with agility and commercial awareness.
  • Oversee order submission accuracy and follow-up.
  • Monitor full assortment integrity across the buying cycle..

 

MERCHANDISING

  • Manage full product cycle from delivery follow up, stock allocation (launch plan), sales follow up, stock adjustments, rebalancing, till markdown process, etc.
  • Communicate effectively to all levels with conviction, clearly-formulated opinion and recommendation on all RTW merchandising related topics.
  • Conduct qualitative market research (pricing architecture, competitor benchmarking, positioning analysis).
  • Drive markdown strategy (pricing, operation, etc.) with Retail, Client, Operation & DC team.
  • Streamline retail merchandise operation through team collaboration with efficient and proactive approach.

RETAIL MERCH PRODUCT STRATEGY

  • Provide relevant merchandising business reports (trends, new products, client trend, product marketing activities, pricing, etc.).
  • Review business reports for boutiques, to help them better understand trends, needs and product specificities (Quantitative and qualitative side)
  • Share regular and actionable findings with boutiques to define action plans。
  • Follow the KPIs (Sales, SOH, Sell Thru) in alignment with Boutique objectives
  • Define boutique ad-hoc needs on business analysis, feedback to Merchandising team.

 

RTW OPERATION

  • Adjust inventory with Operation & Finance team
  • Quality issue follow-up with QC team
  • Run Ad-hoc boutiques enquiries
  • Optimize local inventory consolidation & transfers on regular basis under the business context.
  • Anticipate needs for boutique renovation & opening.
  • Optimize inventory by initiating 360 collaboration with different functions, including Styling, VM, PR, Retail etc.

Internal/external interfaces:

  • Internal (Local): China merchandising team, China fashion team (Retail, marketing, VM, styling,etc), China DC team & Regional merchandising team。
  • Internal (Global): Global merchandising team, Global DC team.

 

Qualification:

  • 4–5 years of merchandising experience (RTW exposure preferred)。
  • Demonstrated agility, collaboration & growth mindset with strong ownership.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to balance commercial rigor with brand sensitivity.
  • Strong analytical capability (advanced Excel required).
  • Experience with Power BI is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus.
