Network Engineer Apprenticeship

This role begins with an on-site training program with curriculum designed to build, sharpen, and test candidates’ technical abilities, develop professional skills, and familiarize candidate with the technologies they will be working with. Upon successful completion of Apprentice Program, candidate will have a better understanding in areas like virtual and physical network infrastructure, network security, network management and control; network and flow optimization; security; configuring; and troubleshooting.

Internal Collaboration

  • Mentorship training with skilled Network Level Engineers every step of the way

  • Gain experience by acquiring knowledge of current network technologies

    • Switch concepts and configuration

    • Router configuration

    • IP addressing, Subnets

  • Network Layers (Open System Interconnection – OSI)

    • Physical, Data, Network, Transport

    • Session, Presentation, Application

  • Experience building and troubleshooting multi-tiered networks using routing, VLANs, etc.

  • Knowledge of current networking technologies including TCP/IP, Routing Protocols and VPNs

  • Network Security Fundamentals

  • Impact of emerging technologies and how to assess, analyze, vulnerability in IoT

Customer Support

  • Shadows and assist team members when troubleshooting situations arise.  

Process Management

  • Follows established processes/procedures and drives improvements with process, quality assurance, and standard operating procedures.

  • Overview of scripts in use and other automated processes to maximize operational efficiencies.

Required Experience:  

1-2 years of full-time experience troubleshooting

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills with an ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience

  • Ability to document technical environment(s) and translate to functional understanding

  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships in a team atmosphere and collaborative environment

  • Build a close working relationship with other engineering teams, to leverage in case of escalations and to drive cross-functional improvements

  • Understand business goals and drivers and translate into appropriate facilitating technologies

  • Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new and emerging technologies
