Main purpose

• The Contract Administrator is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures while facilitating efficient contract execution across multiple commodity business lines.
• The role supports finance operations (including payment order authorisation, credit checks, and related tasks) and risk management as directed or when required, working closely with legal, finance, and commercial teams throughout the full trade life cycle.

Key responsibilities

Prepare, review, modify, and finalize commercial contracts for all business lines in Trafigura China in accordance with company policies and procedures. Process contract amendments and extensions as required. Collaborate with legal, finance, and risk management teams on contract-related matters. Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract administration processes. Verify and approve payment orders for trading procurement-related contracts as directed or when required Review and authorise cargo release documentation for sales contracts as directed or when required Process payment authorisations through system workflows or document sign-offs as directed or when required Perform other related responsibilities within the Finance & Treasury Operations team as directed or when required

Required qualifications

• Minimum  2 years experience in in commodity operations or contract administration..

• Strong understanding of commercial contracts and legal terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Business-level English proficiency (oral and written)

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in legal practice and/or commodity industry is advantageous

Department overview

Finance & Treasury Operation is a centralised finance function supporting all business lines for Trafigura China. The department comprises several specialised teams — including Contract Admin, Finance Operations, Treasury Operations, and Banking Operations — covering the full trade life cycle from contract drafting through to final settlement. The team works closely with commercial, operations, finance, credit, and legal teams to ensure operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
