Job Summary
The Revenue Accountant will report directly to the Revenue Accounting Manager and assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including recording journal entries, completing reconciliations and compiling information for the financial reporting package. Responsible for timely resolution of customer deductions, researching discrepancies, resolving disputes, and ensuring accurate application of trade promotions. This position works closely with Sales team, Finance team, and external customers to minimize aged deductions and improve cash flow.Job Details
This position will work onsite at our San Antonio Corporate office.
Key Responsibilities
Manage monthly revenue accounting processes in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities
Assist with external and internal audit requests by providing documentation and analysis
Prepare schedules and reporting used in management and financial reporting packages.
Responsible for accounting for customer trade deductions, chargebacks, shortages, returns, and promotional allowances.
Analyze deduction trends and identify root causes for recurring issues.
Review customer remittances and deduction documentation for accuracy.
Partner with Sales team to validate promotional activity and funding.
Recommend process improvements to reduce invalid deductions and improve collection performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
2-4 years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience performing account reconciliations and month-end close activities.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
Experience in consumer-packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, or wholesale industries.
1+ years of experience of accounting for trade deductions, chargebacks, or customer allowances
Experience with NetSuite or other ERP software
Experience with large retail customer deduction programs.
Experience with customer portals & deduction management systems.
Experience with gross-to-net accounting and trade promotion management.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Physical Requirements
This is a full-time position and may require long hours and may require weekend and nights work per events.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting is required.
Ability to uphold the stress of traveling.
Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
Ability to work in a confined area.
Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
