OVERVIEW:
Specializes in working with large and complex data sets to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies across multiple teams. Identifies and compiles data sets using a variety of tools to help predict, improve, and measure the success of key business-to-business outcomes. Mentors team members across multiple teams to assure they are functioning as data analysts.
Responsible for direct leadership of assigned team members.
This role encompasses a comprehensive analysis lifecycle, covering requirements gathering, activity execution and design planning. Transforming raw data into structured information which will then be analyzed to glean insights that drive strategic business decisions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage a team of assigned team members supporting a data domain which includes assigning team members a data product portfolio.
Wrangle complex data sets using SQL or scripting for analysis and delivery purposes. Locate and explain data assets and connect them across different platforms and formats for multiple use cases.
Mentor junior analysts in understanding M&T's data policies and procedures.
Understand and document complex data flows for multiple business user stories, profile and review complex mappings and specifications across multiple use cases, develop enterprise level data solutions for problem statements, and perform complex data analysis across multiple use cases.
Review and Approve Data Logical designs, solutions and models for their data product(s).
Prepare, create and execute large project, end to end test plans and scripts using SQL, Python, scripting and/or automation to test multiple/complex user stories.
Applies Advanced knowledge of their business domain including Business Operations, Business Processes, Data Flows and uses of Data in order to provide appropriate data to inform business decisions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex business data needs into technical specifications that provide clear direction to data engineers to enhance current products.
Work with data product teams to ensure that third-party data is used in accordance with user contract.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years related experience
Minimum of 2 years’ managerial, supervisory, and/or work leadership experience
Expert ability to pull data from Structured Query Language (SQL) platforms
Proven ability to close data issues
Experience owning the business relationship to get complex business requirements and translate those into tech requirements for engineers
Experience setting the user acceptance test parameters to ensure conformity to business objectives
Knowledge of data management
DEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Minimum of 5 years data steward experience
Intermediate knowledge of assigned domain products, systems, and workflows
Experience working on an agile team
Experience leading the remediation of data issues
Advanced knowledge of assigned domain products, systems, and workflows
Experience leading data classification and privacy work
Experience using Data Governance Tools
Advanced Knowledge of statistic, data science techniques
Expert ability to pull data from Not Only SQL (noSQL) platforms
