Job Title: Senior Director, Data Governance

Current Need:

Mckesson is looking to hire a Senior Director, Data Governance to join our McKesson’s Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) strategy, and the candidate will be responsible for executing objectives and priorities in alignment with Enterprise digital transformation plans. He/she will help envision, design and develop data strategies to support, augment and automate business decisions by linking data with decisions and outcomes. This role drives data governance strategy and execution, data literacy and cataloging, and management of a knowledge-based data system. The successful candidate will have the perfect blend of business acumen, in depth knowledge of data science and data governance expertise along with strong leadership and communication skills. He/she will lead a growing team and partners with PSaS business leaders, Enterprise Data Governance to operationalize data governance for PSaS.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement PSaS data governance strategy, controls, and capabilities including data catalog, metadata management, data quality metrics, reference data management and reporting and analytics governance
  • Enable data governance operational processes (e.g., data quality measurement) in line with central policies and standards, clearly articulate roles and responsibilities to the business
  • Manage stakeholder communication and progress reporting at various levels of the organization including leadership and executives
  • Make sure that the data and analytics products are adopted properly by the stakeholders, embedded in the process and measured for impact
  • Lead efforts to raise the level of data literacy and help stakeholders become more data-driven, providing educations and coaching to stakeholders and facilitating data-centric business thinking
  • Build and manage a knowledge-based data system, and help the business partners identify the right use cases and analytical/data assets aligning to the critical business priorities
  • Collaborate and contribute to functional and cross-function initiatives to promote ways of using emerging technologies and enabling broader and more effective use of data to support the business
  • Create functional strategy and develop proper vision of management such as annual budget, resources, headcounts and structure
  • Lead cross-functional teams by prioritizing high value business goals and objectives and formulating efficient operating and engagement models
  • Foster a high-performing, diverse and inclusive team culture; motivate team leads and members to focus on continuous operational, analytical, and decision-making process excellences
  • Manage, mentor team members and support their professional growth; build and cultivate a talented analytics delivery team that attracts, develop and retain talents

Critical Skills

We seek an accomplished leader, with demonstrated success in leading large teams and transforming companies to be data-driven, leveraging advances in technology & analytics. 

  • 13+ years of healthcare data and analytics experience, with 5+ years of experience in Data Governance and people management
  • Deep and comprehensive understanding and experience of data management, data governance, data catalog and data literacy
  • Deep knowledge of business analytics and associated practices relevant to the healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotech industries
  • Industry experience and knowledge in Healthcare or Supply chain
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication with all levels of management, and strong executive presence 
  • Proven success leading complex product or analytics centric cross-functional teams, strong leadership skills including team management, coaching and mentoring, superior planning, process and influencing
  • Ability to lead in a matrix environment and build strategic partnership and influence with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong experience and skills at leading or playing a key role in significant projects that have reshaped data process
  • Deep knowledge of advanced analytics and big data technologies and methodologies, as well as proven experience translating big data into actionable and impactful outcomes in healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotech industries
  • Experience in developing cloud computing data platforms (Azure, AWS etc) and working with Data Lake and/or Data Mesh initiatives
  • Proven track record of solving complex problems, thinking creatively and strategically, and using data to tell a story to influence senior level stakeholders

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, applied mathematics, machine learning, or a related data centric-technical field. Master’s or MBA/EMBA degree preferred

Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S, now or in the future, without the support from McKesson.

Relocation is NOT budgeted for this position.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.     Our Base Pay Range for this position

    $141,800 - $236,300
