1-2 years of Inpatient Experience .

Able to make independent and responsible decisions.  Self-starter and demonstrates initiative

Able to maintain and exhibit professionalism

Able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, family members and other facility staff

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric through geriatric patients

Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his/her pediatric through geriatric needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s departmental guidelines.

Age Specific Care Considerations:

Adult: 18+ years – 35 years

Adult: 35+ years – 65 years

Adult: 65+ years

Children: 12+ years – 18 years

Infants: 0 – 18 months


Education:

Undergraduate degree meeting academic requirements, successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program and eligible to take the American Dietetic Registration Exam; or undergraduate degree from an accredited Coordinated Undergraduate Program in Dietetics with specialty in Clinical Nutrition and eligible to take the American Dietetics Registration Exam; or Masters Degree meeting academic requirements and successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program, with six months experience in Clinical Nutrition and eligible to take the American Dietetic Registration Exam
 

Licenses and/or Certifications (Required):

Registration with the American Dietetic Association with continuing education hours that maintain registration status; License with the Texas Board of Examiners of Dietitians and education hours that maintain licensure status.
