As the Data Ecosystem Systems Engineer Lead, you will report directly to the Director, Program Management and Operations and provide systems engineering leadership across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a background in systems engineering, software development, and DevOps with a focus on data platforms and infrastructure. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring that we can  execute and deliver the full lifecycle of data analytics and integrations.

The primary location of the position is in Falls Church, VA; remote or hybrid candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Establishing the appropriate systems engineering rigor within our data ecosystem across the full data lifecycle in accordance with the Digital Transformation Office (DTO) Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)

  • Setting standards and establishing best practices for requirements development and documentation, architectural design, modeling, testing, and deployment across our team

  • Identifying and implementing solutions to achieve continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) within the data ecosystem

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 Years of Relevant Experience with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD

  • Proven experience as a systems engineer supporting software development and/or data engineering

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) and containerization tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Experience with GitHub and other collaborative development workflows

  • Experience with Cameo and/or DOORS

  • Experience with Python and SQL or other similar languages

  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience coordinating efforts of diverse, distributed, cross-functional teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Math) 

  • Understanding of enterprise data platform concepts including data engineering, governance, security, compliance, and performance optimization

  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Experience with the data, architecture, and/or processes of Northrop Grumman Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, product lifecycle management (PLM), and/or Manufacturing Execution systems (MES)

Salary Range: $155,400.00 - $256,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
