CMM Programmers are responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and portable Romer Arm programs using PC-DMIS and CAD (Computer-aided design) solid modeling software to program as needed. In this cross functional role, CMM Programmers will provide support to manufacturing to ensure product conformance to Graco quality requirements and engineering to assist with development of product requirements. Graco’s CMM Programmers will also monitor and record inconsistencies during quality inspection and recommend necessary changes to improve manufacturing quality by working with Quality Inspectors.

What You Will Do at Graco

Programming/Quality

  • Create and edit programs, trouble shoot, operate CMM and Romer Arm utilizing PC-DMIS, and interpret the data generated.

  • Maintain current programs on internal server and calibration/maintain as required.

  • GD & T – Accurately read mechanical drawings and blue prints with a full understanding of GD&T and its interpretation. 

  • Import CAD model into PCDMIS software and develop related fixtures to complete CMM measurement ensemble.

  • Utilize CAD, Solid works, and Pro/E applications to develop CMM programs while continuously learning new applications.  

  • Operate roundness tester, optical comparators, vision systems, and other mechanical devises to assess product conformance per requirements.

  • Understand and apply Quality Management System (QMS) standards and other quality-related policies to determine product conformance and support quality initiatives.

  • Support COQ (cost of quality) reductions.

Cross Collaboration

  • Take direction from senior persons / engineers to develop knowledge and ability to fully support inspection process (GD&T / PC DMIS programming / etc.)

  • Assist inspectors, technicians, and operators in operation of the CMM and Romer Arm equipment.

  • Maintain an organized and intuitive work environment.

  • Meet or exceed annual performance objectives (individual / department).

  • Work with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, and machine operators to ensure GD&T standards are correctly applied.

  • Support manufacturing and design in resolution of day-to-day issues and to support the print review process, specifications and tolerance development.

  • Work with Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the Graco quality system.

What You Will Bring to Graco

  • Two Year Technical Degree in a Quality or Technical program

  • 5+ years of quality experience within a manufacturing environment programming and operating quality equipment. 

  • Understand, apply, and Interpret GD & T and print reading

  • Capable of utilizing PC-DMIS to develop / edit programs (CMM / portable Romer Arm / etc).

  • Experience using CAD or PRO/E

  • Experience utilizing various inspection equipment to verify part quality

  • Experience using basic root cause analysis techniques to identify issues and resolve concerns

  • Familiarity with CAD tools, Microsoft Office, and ISO:9001 Quality Systems

  • Basic knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes

  • Good mechanical aptitude

  • Must be self-directed, able to work independently and function effectively in a cross-functional team environment

  • Strong Organizational and communication skills

  • Effective use of problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Demonstrate innovative and creative thinking skills

Accelerators

  • Global industrial manufacturing experience and knowledge.

  • ASQ Certification preferred

Physical Requirements

(Lifting, dexterity, coordination, mobility, etc.). In terms of an 8-hour workday, "occasionally" means 1 to 33%, "frequently" means 34 to 66% of the time, and "continuous" means 67-100% of the time.

  • In an 8-hour workday employee must be able to sit 1 hour, stand 3 hours, and walk 4 hours.

  • Position requires frequent bending and stooping, occasional use of fixed or portable stairs, crouching and kneeling and reaching above the shoulder.

  • Employee must occasionally lift and load up to 45 lbs. or greater.

  • The position requires frequent repetitive elbow movements and simple grasping with both hands and occasional firm grasping and fine manipulation with both hands.
