Job Description

Job Summary: The Head of Cardiovascular (CV) Business Unit is responsible for the overall vision, strategic direction, commercial success, and operational excellence of Amgen Korea’s CV portfolio, led by Repatha, a novel PCSK-9 inhibitor. This leadership role entails inspiring & developing team members to aim high, driving growth strategies in both cardiology and neurology segments, ensuring competitive positioning, market access, and customer engagement. The role will guide the CV BU & its cross-functional team to deliver exceptional brand performance benefiting more ASCVD patients in Korea, while adhering to Amgen’s ethical and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial & P&L Management

  • Own and manage the CV business unit P&L to drive revenue growth and profitability.
  • Oversee budget planning, resource optimization, and performance tracking.
  • Use KPI reviews and market research to identify areas for business improvement.

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

  • Establish and communicate a clear business vision and strategy for the CV portfolio including Repatha, PCSK-9 inhibitor, and future CV portfolio such as Olparisan, siRNA .
  • Lead and guide the CV team to analyze market dynamics, competitor trends, and opportunities in both cardiology and neurology to develop the winning brand strategy.
  • Lead annual and long-range planning processes aligned with global and local corporate objectives.
  • Accelerate growth of Repatha by exploring and realizing all possible strategic opportunities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Serve as a core member of the Korea Leadership Team, actively contributing to country-level strategic decisions beyond the HOBU scope.
  • Build and lead a high-performing CV business unit team including Product Managers, Sales teams, and cross-functional members.
  • Foster a collaborative, agile, and accountable team culture with a strong performance focus.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing cross-functional team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Attract, retain, and develop top talent, ensuring effective coaching, performance management, and career growth opportunities for team members.
  • Partner with Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Global teams to ensure business strategies comply with all relevant standards.

Commercial & Marketing Execution

  • Guide brand planning, message development, and promotional material creation based on customer insights and behavior.
  • Oversee development and implementation of omnichannel marketing campaigns tailored to cardiologists and neurologists.
  • Lead the integration of scientific evidence and real-world data in collaboration with Medical Affairs to strengthen brand positioning.
  • Ensure effective lifecycle management and successful execution of new strategic initiatives.

Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Lead sales leadership team to strengthen field team effectiveness through training and alignment with key brand priorities.
  • Establish strong relationships with KOLs, decision-makers in hospitals, and medical societies in cardiology and neurology.
  • Drive execution excellence by monitoring sales performance and adjusting strategies as needed.

Market Access & Pricing Strategy

  • Collaborate with Market Access teams to secure optimal reimbursement and ensure broad access to CV therapies.
  • Develop and support value communication and payer engagement plans.
  • Shape the external environment through collaboration with stakeholders, aligning policy and access initiatives.

Innovation & Digital Transformation

  • Lead innovation through the integration of digital marketing, data analytics, and customer insights.
  • Continuously explore and implement new ways of engaging HCPs through digital platforms and non-salesforce channels.

Regulatory & Compliance Adherence

  • Ensure all activities meet Amgen’s Code of Conduct and comply with local regulations and global standards.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity in all internal and external business dealings.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education & Experience:
  • + 15 years of related experience with bachelor’s or higher degree (Life Sciences or Business preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales & marketing experience in leading pharmaceutical companies, with a strong track record in CV preferred.
  • Experience as BU Head or a similar senior leadership position in a multinational pharmaceutical company.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex brand portfolios and lifecycle.

  • Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategies, including sales planning, budgeting, and financial modeling.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging key national accounts and external partners.

  • Fluent in English and Korean.
